Thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive!

Dear Mattie Blog Readers,

It means a great deal to us that you take the time to write to us and to share your thoughts, feelings, and reflections on Mattie's battle and death. Your messages are very meaningful to us and help support us through very challenging times. To you we are forever grateful. As my readers know, I promised to write the blog for a year after Mattie's death, which would mean that I could technically stop writing on September 9, 2010. However, at the moment, I feel like our journey with grief still needs to be processed and fortunately I have a willing support network still committed to reading. Therefore, the blog continues on. If I should find the need to stop writing, I assure you I will give you advanced notice. In the mean time, thank you for reading, thank you for having the courage to share this journey with us, and most importantly thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive.

As Mattie would say, Ooga Booga (meaning, I LOVE YOU)! Vicki and Peter

Tuesday, May 11, 2021 -- Mattie died 606 weeks ago today.

Tonight's picture was taken in May of 2005. Mattie was three years old. Every weekend, we would take Mattie on a nature adventure. It really did not matter what the weather was like. I think Peter and I traversed every park and nature center in our region!

Quote of the day: Today's coronavirus update on Johns Hopkins.

  • Number of people diagnosed with the virus: 32,773,387
  • Number of people who died from the virus: 582,791

I would say that Peter and I are very stressed out! We are each juggling a lot and of course the house hunting and now the purchase of a house are all encompassing. I describe house hunting during COVID like speed dating. You are only allowed a certain amount of time to tour a house. Because appointments are scheduled so that visitors to a house do not overlap. So honestly you feel rushed and even on a good day, I don't like being rushed through anything, much less for the purchase of a big ticket item.

So today mid-day, we took a walk with Sunny on Roosevelt Island. I have been so busy that I haven't taken Sunny to the Island for maybe a month.

The last time I saw the Island, the trees weren't green! Now everything is in its full spring regalia and I love the yellow irises.
A close up!
Naturally we can't go to the Island without seeing deer!
What is this a photo of? Well walking around the Island with us today was "Little Bo Peep!" If you think the back of her outfit is a riot, you had to see the front of her.
While I was sitting in the living room today, I wasn't alone! Sunny and Indie are buddies! I literally gave myself forced breaks today, because I am very tired and the eye exam I had yesterday triggered  a migraine for me. So needless to say, it been a painful spring of one bad migraine or cluster headache after the other.
