Thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive!

Dear Mattie Blog Readers,

It means a great deal to us that you take the time to write to us and to share your thoughts, feelings, and reflections on Mattie's battle and death. Your messages are very meaningful to us and help support us through very challenging times. To you we are forever grateful. As my readers know, I promised to write the blog for a year after Mattie's death, which would mean that I could technically stop writing on September 9, 2010. However, at the moment, I feel like our journey with grief still needs to be processed and fortunately I have a willing support network still committed to reading. Therefore, the blog continues on. If I should find the need to stop writing, I assure you I will give you advanced notice. In the mean time, thank you for reading, thank you for having the courage to share this journey with us, and most importantly thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive.

As Mattie would say, Ooga Booga (meaning, I LOVE YOU)! Vicki and Peter

Tonight's picture was taken in September of 2002. Mattie was five months old and doing something he absolutely hated..... sitting on his tummy! Mattie hated having to do tummy time and strengthening that portion of his body. Mattie preferred being upright on his feet. He desperately wanted to walk and actually run right from the beginning, which was why he loved "tot wheels" (his walker).

Tonight's Foundation Walk photos feature the two moon bounces we had at our event. Since this year's Walk was designed to launch a whole new concept, the challenge wall, we decided to completely change up the moon bounces we offered at the Walk. Typically we always have a rock climbing wall at the Walk and a small moon bounce, but this year, we decided to have this enormous moon bounce called.... Circus City! The dimensions of Circus City are 28 feet in length, 47 feet wide, and 22 feet high.

We rent all our moon bounces from Fantasy World Entertainment, and I like this company because they are family owned and operated and they are also the largest inflatable company in our area and one of the most reputable. I am very grateful to Amelia, the company's owner, who counseled me this year to bring Circus City to our event. This inflatable was a SUPER addition and very popular!!! I had parents tell me that their kids were IN LOVE with this moon bounce.

The other moon bounce at the Walk was this four person Wacky Basketball Sports Equalizer. This moon bounce was popular not only with kids but with teens and even adults.

A person can either shoot hoops independently or you can be attached to a harness and compete against a person on the other side who is moving in the opposite direction toward the other hoop. This inflatable is large: 45' L X 45' W X 9'6!

Kids LOVED the slides of Circus City.... All day long!

To me, Circus City was a happy and colorful sight to see at the Walk and I have no doubt that Mattie would have approved of this new addition at the Walk.
