A Remembrance Video of Mattie

Thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive!

Dear Mattie Blog Readers,

It means a great deal to me that you take the time to write and to share your thoughts, feelings, and reflections on Mattie's battle and death. Your messages are very meaningful and help support me through very challenging times. I am forever grateful. As my readers know, I promised to write the blog for a year after Mattie's death, which would mean that I could technically have stopped writing on September 9, 2010. However, like my journey with grief there is so much that still needs to be processed and fortunately I have a willing support network still committed to reading. Therefore, the blog continues on. If I should find the need to stop writing, I assure you I will give you advanced notice. In the mean time, thank you for reading, thank you for having the courage to share this journey with me, and most importantly thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive.

As Mattie would say, Ooga Booga (meaning, I LOVE YOU)! Vicki

Tonight's picture was taken in June of 2009. Friends went to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania and brought Mattie back this bean bag Hershey kiss. The irony was Mattie hated chocolate, but he definitely loved the bean bag kiss. For the life of me, I have no idea where this kiss landed up. I don't remember donating it, and yet after that moment in time, I don't recall seeing the kiss ever again.

Quote of the day: Today's coronavirus update from Johns Hopkins.

  • Number of people diagnosed with the virus: 33,375,684
  • Number of people who died from the virus: 597,903

I woke up this morning at 7:30am and never stopped moving. In fact, I have been so busy, I have yet to eat anything today. Top on my list was to contact every utility company (electric, gas, water, and sewer) to transfer the services from the previous owners to us. You would think.... how long could that take? I allotted an hour! Boy was that an underestimation, as I was on HOLD with the gas company for exactly 60 minutes. I am sure the average person would have given up, but I remained on hold. I got it all done today!

But that isn't where the fun ended! Then I jumped into the car and headed to the bank. I had to wire money to the escrow company for the down payment of the house. They wanted it today and they were driving us crazy with email requests! Little did I know that in order to wire money, I had to make an appointment with a banker! I guess this is a COVID policy! Thankfully the bank accommodated me and I only waited 30 minutes for an appointment and got it done. But I have to say it is disconcerting wiring a large sum of money through the ether!

After the bank, I had to go to the Ford dealership, as the car needed an oil change. So I waited two hours there for that to happen, then got the car washed, and went grocery shopping. The question is what didn't I do today!?
