Proud of my work -- 16 Years of Service

Thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive!

Dear Mattie Blog Readers,

It means a great deal to me that you take the time to write and to share your thoughts, feelings, and reflections on Mattie's battle and death. Your messages are very meaningful and help support me through very challenging times. I am forever grateful. As my readers know, I promised to write the blog for a year after Mattie's death, which would mean that I could technically have stopped writing on September 9, 2010. However, like my journey with grief there is so much that still needs to be processed and fortunately I have a willing support network still committed to reading. Therefore, the blog continues on. If I should find the need to stop writing, I assure you I will give you advanced notice. In the mean time, thank you for reading, thank you for having the courage to share this journey with me, and most importantly thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive.

As Mattie would say, Ooga Booga (meaning, I LOVE YOU)! Vicki

Tonight's picture was taken in May of 2004. Mattie was two years old and we took him to the National Arboretum. Around the visitor's center of the Arboretum is a koi pond. For a quarter you can purchase some fish food. This intrigued Mattie! He wanted to check it out, but he did not want to feed the fish himself. Makes sense to me, as he had no idea how these fish were going to react to the food or our presence.

Quote of the day: Today's coronavirus update from Johns Hopkins.

  • Number of people diagnosed with the virus: 32,808,521
  • Number of people who died from the virus: 583,558

I honestly do not know whether I am coming or going. I am swamped with chores, Foundation administrative work, focusing on applying for a grant, a licensure board meeting this week, and the list goes on! Not to mention paperwork for financing the house, about 50 pages of HOA regulations.... get the picture? I'm not sure there is ever a good time to buy a house, but during COVID and while planning a virtual fundraiser, makes it really NOT a good time.

I am happy to report that the Walk thermometer reads $108,572 today!

Here are our top ten walk teams!
