A Remembrance Video of Mattie

Thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive!

Dear Mattie Blog Readers,

It means a great deal to me that you take the time to write and to share your thoughts, feelings, and reflections on Mattie's battle and death. Your messages are very meaningful and help support me through very challenging times. I am forever grateful. As my readers know, I promised to write the blog for a year after Mattie's death, which would mean that I could technically have stopped writing on September 9, 2010. However, like my journey with grief there is so much that still needs to be processed and fortunately I have a willing support network still committed to reading. Therefore, the blog continues on. If I should find the need to stop writing, I assure you I will give you advanced notice. In the mean time, thank you for reading, thank you for having the courage to share this journey with me, and most importantly thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive.

As Mattie would say, Ooga Booga (meaning, I LOVE YOU)! Vicki

Tonight's picture was taken in May of 2009. Mattie was pictured with Charlotte. Mattie deemed Charlotte "his girlfriend." In fact, I would say he was in love with her and one day in the car coming home from a playdate he proposed to her in the back seat of my car. He even took out a ring he got as a prize from the dentist office. I had no idea he had this mind, but it was absolutely adorable to watch this interchange. In so many ways I think Mattie understood he had to make the most out of life while he could. A rather sixth sense. I feel this photo is very appropriate to post, because Charlotte raises money for the Foundation every year. My hunch is she does this in memory of the close friendship and bond she shared with Mattie. Don't they look happy just being together?

Quote of the day: We live in a world in which we need to share responsibility. It's easy to say, 'It's not my child, not my community, not my world, not my problem.' Then there are those who see the need and respond. I consider those people my heroes. ~ Mr. Rogers

We are in full Walk mode at our home today. My parents, Peter's parents, and my lifetime friend, Karen are all visiting. They help with the last minute logistics and the loading and unloading of materials for the event. We always rent a suburban to manage all the items, but this year I would say that we may need to migrate next year to a UHaul van!
Even Sunny got in the mix! Poor fellow.... as there is a lot of stress around him and walk materials in every which direction, yet he is managing and of course herding me around.
Now isn't this a funny sight? Indie jumped aboard the large luggage cart we use to move around materials. She claimed this new item in our home tonight and clearly wanted to explore it!

Sign off for tonight! May tomorrow be a great day.

Happy to report that we reached 96% of our Walk goal!!!!
