A Remembrance Video of Mattie

Thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive!

Dear Mattie Blog Readers,

It means a great deal to me that you take the time to write and to share your thoughts, feelings, and reflections on Mattie's battle and death. Your messages are very meaningful and help support me through very challenging times. I am forever grateful. As my readers know, I promised to write the blog for a year after Mattie's death, which would mean that I could technically have stopped writing on September 9, 2010. However, like my journey with grief there is so much that still needs to be processed and fortunately I have a willing support network still committed to reading. Therefore, the blog continues on. If I should find the need to stop writing, I assure you I will give you advanced notice. In the mean time, thank you for reading, thank you for having the courage to share this journey with me, and most importantly thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive.

As Mattie would say, Ooga Booga (meaning, I LOVE YOU)! Vicki

This shot was taken in Duck, North Carolina, in July 2005. This was our third summer in a row taking Mattie and my parents down to the Outer Banks. By this time, Mattie had experienced the beach two times already, so on his third trip, he was getting to be quite the pro at taking it all in and enjoying the moment.

Hello all,

It is Peter again posting. Vicki is still in Los Angeles helping her parents to prepare for the move out of their home they sold last month. Needless to say they have a lot to do, and in usual Vicki fashion, she has both a plan and is working herself into the ground to execute it. They move this weekend, and now with the house largely empty of personal effects (other than the pieces that take movers to move), they have checked into a hotel in Burbank. On Saturday the movers come to move the main contents, but mind you, Vicki has spent the last week packing and physically moving the more important items and personal effects herself into the home where her parents will be moving.  Needless to say, it has been a whirlwind for Vicki and I feel bad for her as she is stressed out and working like a maniac.

I include below some shots from yesterday of Sunny, who had been very interested in dinner plans and me working the grill.  Regardless, Sunny was able to score some steak last night, which always warms his heart.
