A Remembrance Video of Mattie

Thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive!

Dear Mattie Blog Readers,

It means a great deal to me that you take the time to write and to share your thoughts, feelings, and reflections on Mattie's battle and death. Your messages are very meaningful and help support me through very challenging times. I am forever grateful. As my readers know, I promised to write the blog for a year after Mattie's death, which would mean that I could technically have stopped writing on September 9, 2010. However, like my journey with grief there is so much that still needs to be processed and fortunately I have a willing support network still committed to reading. Therefore, the blog continues on. If I should find the need to stop writing, I assure you I will give you advanced notice. In the mean time, thank you for reading, thank you for having the courage to share this journey with me, and most importantly thank you for keeping Mattie's memory alive.

As Mattie would say, Ooga Booga (meaning, I LOVE YOU)! Vicki

Friday, May 15, 2020

Tonight's picture was taken in May of 2007. I remember snapping this photo early in the morning. It was Mattie's first day of summer camp at his preschool, and he was very excited to get there! Wasn't really interested in taking a photo for me, but he complied. Yet you can see in Mattie's facial expression that he wants me to hurry! Nonetheless, I am glad I took all the pictures that I did, and captured not only special moments, but our everyday adventures.

Meanwhile, we are blasting social media with all sorts of information about the Virtual Walk on Sunday. Since there is no live event, we want there to be some cohesiveness to the day. So we are informing people they can walk from midnight to noon on May 17. Then all they have to do is WALK, SNAP, and POST.

Walk: track your steps (to qualify for prizes)
Snap: take a picture showing your Mattie Miracle spirit
Post: share photos and final walk count on our social media platforms (making sure to use #MMCFWALK in all social media posts)

Even Sunny is showing his Mattie Miracle spirit! Dressed in ORANGE and wearing a star performer medal.
Sunny and me!
First time Sunny was off leash since his surgery! Never guessing that he would be so excited and start running! Any case, this photo makes a great promo for the walk!
